Philip Louis Levine (born February 18, 1962) is an American businessman and politician who served as Mayor of Miami Beach from 2013 to 2017.^[1] A member of the Democratic Party, he was a candidate in the 2018 Florida gubernatorial election.

Background

Philip Levine was born in 1962 to a Jewish family in Boston, Massachusetts. They moved to South Florida when he was 10.^[2] He attended Attucks Middle School and Hollywood Hills High School in Hollywood, Florida.^[3]

Levine headed north for college, graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in Political Science.

After college, he settled in Miami Beach, Florida.
